Descanso, meaning
tranquility, is located in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains, at
an elevation of 3,450 feet, and 40 miles east of Downtown San Diego.
Descanso is a small
community of unspoiled natural beauty with ranges of indigenous foliage
including trees, plants and wildflowers.
 The town offers a quilting
store, farming, groceries, a nursery, bird watching tours, and casual
dining.
Mountain Empire Unified
School District serves Jacumba, Descanso, Pine Valley, Tecate, Campo,
and Potrero; all are areas of San Diego’s East County.
