Serra Mesa real estate, developed south of Kearney Mesa just after WWII, was built for military multi-family housing and since then, single family homes and apartment buildings have filled in, alongside residential commerce. Military housing is now transforming into a 900-unit town home village, home to the largest Navy housing projects the US has built. Included in this land’s renovation is seven acres of park space for recreation. This area is expanding rapidly to fit the new growth. National University has used some of this reformed land to build a new state-of-the-art library and classroom facilities. Younger students attend schools part of the San Diego City School District, ranking in the state’s 80th percentile. Neighborhoods are designed for families. The Children’s Hospital of San Diego and Sharp Memorial Hospital complex are also in the area. The residential element of Serra Mesa real estate has developed in the last several years. Formerly the home of General Dynamics, aerospace and electronic firms, Spectrum is a housing complex still expanding with businesses and restaurants, made up to be an entire community. Elegant architectural styling has been created and there is lush landscaping throughout the community. Avion at Spectrum, one particular complex, offers a club house, cobblestone streets, and many interior luxuries and amenities to each home. In addition, Serra Mesa real estate offers three residential neighborhoods: Kearny Lodge, Royal Highlands and Stonecrest.
Kearney Mesa, located in central San
Diego just north of Mission Valley, is home to many industrial and
commercial facilities, along with Montgomery Field, a regional airport
at the south end of the region. Because of easy access to three dominant
highways (I-15, I-805, and SR-52), this location is appealing to many
company headquarters and business parks that have moved in. Kearney Mesa
is also home to the County Operations Center, which employs much of San
Diego County’s workforce. Also dominant are television & radio stations,
facilitating from Kearney Mesa, and car dealerships that draw buyers
just off the highways. Many Asian restaurants and businesses thrive here
also.
